For example, if channel 2-1 says its 10:00pm but channel 5-1 says its 10:30pm and you have a scheduled recording for channel 5-1 but youre still tuned to channel 2-1 at 10:00pm (channel 5-1's 10:30) then the book entry would fire a half hour too late. It would seem dangerous to me to rely on the time from the channels if they are indeed broadcasting different times because then the book wouldnt start recording at the right time.

Is the time based on the channel that the unit is currently tuned to? How often does the unit update its current time (aka get a request for the time from the broadcasting station)? What I cannot seem to grasp is IF the channels are sending different times and if this unit gets the time from the channels, Then how does the timer (book) know what is the correct time to start recording. I believe the best solution would be for Mediasonic to enable us to add the date and time ourselves rather than having to contact local TV stations and ask them to make changes. In my case, the information broadcast by the channels haven't had any effect on the date and time of my unit (my date and time variance is the same for all the channels - which I think is better than the alternative). I have read various complaints about how different channels air the wrong time and how that has also posed a challenge for HW-150 PVR customers. That is a bit complex and time consuming to do every time I want the PVR to record a show. But, again, if I want to schedule a recording, I need to figure how many days from now the show airs and how many days that is from the date of the machine (which is 2 1/2 years in the past), and subtract 9 hours and 29 minutes from the actual start time. As long as I do my math properly, the recorder still works fine. When I want to schedule the recording of a show using the HW-150 "Timer", regardless of the channel I am trying to record, when I press "1" to add a show, the date and time are off by 2 1/2 years and by precisely 9 hours and 29 minutes. One issue I have had is that there is no capability to manually set the date and time.Īs I write this, the present date displayed on my HW-150 PVR is (the date of this post is ) and the present time is 3:15 (am) when the time is actually 12:44 (pm), so the machine is about 2 1/2 years and 9 hours and 29 minutes behind the present. It is a relatively fast tuner and is able to record TV shows which is why I bought it.
